Colonial Revival … Revived!

Summit, NJ

At the height of Covid, a family of seven invited us to reimagine their century-old Colonial Revivalβ€”not through major renovation, but through thoughtful furnishing and layered decoration. The home’s original bones set the tone: period fireplaces, traditional millwork, stained glass, and softly arched window mullions became the foundation for a fresh take on new traditional.

A sliver of yellow from the stained glass sparked the living room palette, setting off a house-wide exploration of color and pattern. From a fuzzy, plaid wing chair that quickly became a fan favorite to a whimsical koi-fish wallpaper winding up the staircase, moments of playfulness are woven throughout. Each room carries its own personality while remaining unmistakably connectedβ€”restoring character, warmth, and an approachable sense of joy to a home ready for its next hundred years.
