Beautiful spaces are only part of it. Every project is a creative collaborationβ€”rooted in transparency, trust, and a shared commitment to doing things the right way.

At Forina Design & Co., we believe a successful project starts with clarity. From early conversations through final installation, we prioritize thoughtful communication, organized workflows, and guided decision-makingβ€”so the design process feels manageable, intentional, and never overwhelming. Whether we’re furnishing a home, shaping a renovation, or collaborating on a new build, our role is to lead the process with confidence and care, allowing you to enjoy the experience as much as the finished space.

A clear, collaborative process designed to guide you every step of the way

OUR PROCESS

Fullβ€’Service Design

PHASE I: VISION & DIRECTION

We begin by gathering the information needed to design your project with accuracy and intention. This may include a site visit for photos and measurements, reviewing any architectural plans you provide, and noting items you’d like to keep. At our first Discovery Meeting, we discuss your goals (and review your Style & Function Questionnaire, which you will have filled out beforehand) to establish an initial design direction.

PHASE II: SCHEMATIC DESIGN

Using what we gathered in Phase I, we create a schematic design package that includes scaled floor plans, mood boards, and preliminary drawings. We present options for lighting, window treatments, wall and floor coverings, fixtures, hardware, tile, and furnishings, along with a proposed color palette and materials. We’ll share the design through a series of presentations and refine the plan based on your feedback.

PHASE III: DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

We finalize the design with detailed drawings, elevations, and specifications for all furnishings, custom pieces, millwork, and cabinetry. For renovation or new-build projects, we collaborate with your architect, contractor, and other professionals to ensure the design is implemented correctly and seamlessly. This phase also includes project managementβ€”procurement, order tracking, delivery coordination, site visits, and ongoing communicationβ€”as we oversee the process from design through installation.

PHASE IV: STYLING & ACCESSORIES

To complete your space, we curate and install accessories in two thoughtful styling rounds. You’ll be able to approve or decline selections, and we’ll adjust based on what feels right for your home. Our goal is a fully realized, beautifully layered space that feels curated, complete, and uniquely yours.

BEFORE

A cozy living room with a large beige sectional sofa, a green velvet armchair, and a fireplace with a marble hearth. The room has a large window and sliding glass door that lead to a backyard patio, with curtains framing the view. Shelves with decorative items and books line the wall behind the sofa, and a coffee table with books and a flower vase is centered in the room. The space is styled with cushions, throws, and artistic decor.

FAQs

  • Generally, no. All materials, furnishings, and decor items are ordered and managed by Forina Design & Co. This ensures design integrity, quality control, and proper tracking of every item.

  • Yes. We’re happy to incorporate sentimental pieces or key items you already own, such as a favorite chair, large-scale furniture, or meaningful accessories and art. However, our focus is on creating a cohesive, curated design rather than relocating all existing pieces from one home to the next.

  • Yes. We provide updates via email, including delivery timelines, site-visit summaries, and any project adjustments as needed.

  • Yes. At the onset, during our Discovery Meeting and while discussing your Style & Function Questionnaire, you will have the chance to review different furniture styles and inspiration photos to determine your personal style. We take critical notes to fully understand your style, needs, and preferences. We then present the most thoughtful and cohesive selections that align with the overall vision. After we deliver your carefully considered design plan, you’ll have the opportunity to tweak anything that doesn’t feel right during the revision phase. This way, we fine-tune the design without compromising the overall vision.

  • Delays can happen, especially with custom or specialty items. We keep you informed every step of the way and adjust the project timeline as needed to minimize disruption.

  • Yes. Our team coordinates the installation of all furnishings, decor, and accessories to ensure a cohesive final look. This includes arranging furniture, hanging artwork, and styling all finishing touches.

  • If any item arrives damaged or incorrect, we will handle all communication with the vendor and coordinate replacement or repair.

  • Most sales are final. On occasion, certain vendors do allow returns, but that is often minus shipping and includes a restocking fee. Our goal is to minimize surprises through the conceptual and design presentation phases. If something doesn’t feel right after installation, let us know within the specified review window, and we’ll discuss potential solutions.
