The Nut House

basking ridge, NJ

Nicknamed for the family business—importing nuts—this home has been an evolving collaboration spanning nearly a decade. Over the course of eight years, we’ve transformed almost every room, layering character, color, and confidence with each phase. Most recently, the journey culminated in a complete kitchen gut and reimagining.

By this point, trust ran deep and the brief was refreshingly simple: maximize storage and avoid anything resembling ubiquitous white, cookie-cutter kitchens. Drawing from the home’s existing palette, we introduced deep teal cabinetry, a dark plum range, a statement marble with dramatic movement, and a warm brass hood that anchors the space. The result is a kitchen that functions effortlessly while defying expectation—clearly a kitchen, yet anything but ordinary.
